We are at a crossroads in the language services industry, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) rapidly integrating into the work of interpreters. If AI has the potential to impact our job opportunities, it’s time for us to take action. The time is now for stepping up our game and standing out. Coming out of the shadows is key to raising our status and increasing the value others place on us, which could also save jobs.

Andrea Henry, a veteran interpreter and researcher, will share strategies for interpreters, trainers, administrators, and agency owners to advocate for the relevance of interpreters. She will demonstrate techniques for showcasing our value and educating others about the complex cognitive skills required during interpreting. While the public at large often assumes this job requires us to just be bilingual and nice, we can change that perception and help them understand our sophisticated skill set.

Moreover, a national messaging campaign could help us move forward. Articulating our skillset and the added value we bring to the table has the potential to improve our status, working conditions, and pay. In the end, we might be a little less misunderstood and a lot more valued, potentially keeping AI from taking over too much of our workspace.

But that’s not all! We also will have Bruce Adelson moderating this 90-minute interactive webinar. The session will include a 60-minute presentation by Andrea, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session moderated by Bruce.
