This course is specifically designed for experienced telephonic interpreters preparing to handle emergency service calls. While covering some essential foundational topics, the course focuses on developing the advanced skills required to manage various emergency scenarios effectively. Participants will also explore the high-stress nature of emergency service interpreting and learn strategies for managing vicarious trauma and critical incident stress. The course includes interpreting exercises and glossaries to help students practice consecutive interpreting skills and terminology across emergency services, including emergency medical services, fire departments, and law enforcement calls.
